Entertaining comes naturally to Grammy Award-winning country music icon Dwight Yoakam, who has sold more than 20 million records worldwide, broken attendance records with his sold-out live performances and broadened his audience with critically acclaimed acting roles in "Sling Blade" and "Panic Room." Now he is adding a venture of a different kind to his list.

The Kentucky native was inspired by a special family recipe to create Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits, which are now available in the freezer case section at Albertsons and Minyards supermarkets in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area; in the Houston area at such stores as Fiesta, Market Basket and Gerlands and in Albertsons supermarkets throughout the Austin area.

Texas is one of the first states where the biscuits are available. The new product was also recently rolled out in Southern California and Las Vegas, with additional markets to be announced soon, as the biscuits become available nationwide.

"As you might have guessed, I'm a big fan of biscuits, and have been making them for my friends for some time," Yoakam says. "Over the years, they've been egging me on to make them available to all my fans across the country. I finally gave in."

Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits™ are packaged seven biscuits in a 9-inch aluminum pan. The biscuits are frozen dough that go directly from the freezer to the oven with no mess: simply peel off the lid and place the pan in a preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden brown. Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits™ are available as buttermilk biscuits or with the biscuits and a 14-ounce sauce pack. The sauce packs come in five varieties: Sausage Gravy, Country Style Gravy, Beef Stew, Chicken Stew and Beef Chili. The sauce pack can be boiled or microwaved and then served with the biscuits.

More information about the new product is available at www.dwightyoakam.com; www.bakersfieldbiscuits.com and www.modernfoods.net.

Following his appearance on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno," Yoakam took the "Bakersfield Biscuit Hour" on the road, joining Brooks & Dunn for the Neon Circus & Wild West Show. The 80-city tour is scheduled to stop at Dallas' Smirnoff Music Center July 13 and Houston's Woodlands Pavilion July 14. Dwight's new single, "Sitting Pretty," is featured on the Warner Bros./Curb Records "Inside Traxx 2002," a NASCAR-inspired album featuring 14 high-octane songs from country music's top artists.
