Joint Promotion with Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits™ Products, Gibson Guitars, and Rhino Records Yields Over 60,000 Entries
A limited edition Dwight Yoakam Honky Tonk Deuce autographed guitar was awarded to the lucky winner of the Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits™ line of products and Gibson Guitars nationwide tie-in promotion. In conjunction with the Gibson promotion, a rebate coupon for $5.00 off Yoakam's four-disc Rhino Records boxed set was included on Yoakam's Lanky Links™, Bakersfield Biscuits and Chicken Lickin' Chicken Fries™ product packages. A consumer was automatically entered into the contest by submitting the rebate coupon, or entering online at www.dwightyoakam.com; www.bakersfieldbiscuits.com; or www.rhino.com.

We had over 60,000 entries in a six month period," said John Marburger, President of Modern Foods, the company marketing the Dwight Yoakam Food product line nationwide. "Gibson Guitars did an excellent job supporting this promotion as well as Rhino Records in allowing us to use their website for online entries. We are continuing to grow the business with new and unique items that fulfill a need for the consuming public."
Created with Yoakam's direction, the Honky Tonk Deuce has a Sitka spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. The guitar has pearl parallelogram inlays, classic nickel keystone tuners, and special inlaid pearl dice on the fingerboard and pick guard. Only 200 Honky Tonk Deuces were made.
A mother working two jobs to support her children was the winner of the Grand Prize limited edition guitar. Holly Johnson of Lincoln, Illinois had never entered a contest before the Yoakam/Gibson giveaway.
"The only thing I have ever won was a cake in a cake walk," said Johnson. "I was counting inventory at a newly opened Wal-Mart Supercenter and found the Lanky Links and Chicken Fries in the freezer case. I purchased them right away. I saw the entry form on one of the packages and entered the sweepstakes and my husband mailed it in. I can't believe I won."

The sweepstakes was developed to help promote the new Dwight Yoakam line of frozen food products that are available nationwide at Wal-Mart Supercenters. Products include delicious Chicken Lickin's™ Chicken Fries, Lanky Links™ fully cooked pork sausage links, and the newest edition Chicken Lickin's™ Buffalo Style Bites. The buffalo bites are boneless, precooked all white chicken with a spicy coating and mild peppery flavor throughout. Yoakam's popular food products are selling briskly throughout the country.
