Dwight Yoakam's Bakersfield Biscuits™ line of frozen foods includes biscuits topped with gravy, chili or stew, chicken bites and fries, sausage links and patties and breaded shrimp. The singer's involvement in the foods business started as a lark, said John Marburger, president of Modern Foods, which markets the line. Several years ago, some biscuits Yoakam had made for the opening of Buck Owens' restaurant in Bakersfield, CA, became so popular he started selling them on the Internet. "He said, "If we can have fun with this, let's do it," Marburger said. "His goal is to enjoy doing this, but he's a musician and director and actor. Dwight's very creative and we are more of the in-the-trench guys."
